On July 21st, 2025, the arrest of Richard B. Tancer, age 68, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Richard B. Tancer was charged with two counts of fourth degree criminal sexual contact. The arrest and charges against Richard B. Tancer were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Chief James Walter of the Little Ferry Police Department.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, their Special Victims Unit was contacted by the Little Ferry Police Department about an alleged case of sexual assault that took place at Family Medical Group in Little Ferry, New Jersey. Detectives were able to identify Richard B. Tancer as the suspect in sexually assaulting a female patient during a scheduled examination. The investigation is currently ongoing and any additional information may be given to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office through their tip line at 201-266-5532.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Richard B. Tancer are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
