On May 26th, 2026, the arrest of Stephen Intrieri, age 44, was announced by Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Stephen Intrieri was charged with Theft by Unlawful Taking and Impersonation. The arrest and charges against Stephen Intrieri were a result of an investigation handled by Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Economic Crimes Squad and Jackson Township Police Department.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the victim took out a Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) worth $300,000 against his own property with the intention of repurposing some of the proceeds to invest with Stephen Intrieri. The defendant managed to gain sole access to the HELOC by putting down his contact information when completing the loan application under the victim’s name. After Stephen Intrieri gained access to the funds he then transferred them to an E-trade account he owned and nobody else had access to. In addition to the fraudulent activity an investigation into the defendant’s activity revealed he communicated with the victim while falsely posing to be the mortgage company. Stephen Intrieri was charged with the aforementioned crimes on May 21st, 2026, in addition to his name being entered into the National Crime Information Center database.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Stephen Intrieri are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
