On February 10th, 2026, the arrest of Joseph Mansueto, age 38, was announced by Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Joseph Mansueto was charged with Aggravated Arson and Criminal Mischief. The arrest and charges against Joseph Mansueto were a result of an investigation handled by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit-Arson Squad, Toms River Township Police Department Detective Bureau, Toms River Township Bureau of Fire Prevention, Ocean County Fire Marshal’s K-9 Unit, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigations Unit.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 3:40 a.m. on February 8th, 2026, a structure fire at a Planet Fitness location off of Route 37 was responded to by the Toms River Township Police and Fire Departments. Responding personnel observed a small fire at the exterior of the building that was able to be extinguished successfully with minimal damage to the property. A joint investigation was launched that revealed the fire started in the southwest area of the building by using an open flame with combustible material. Joseph Mansueto was identified by detectives as the individual alleged to have caused the start of the fire at the Planet Fitness location.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Joseph Mansueto are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
