On May 23rd, 2025, the arrest of Adrian Oceguera, age 29, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Adrian Oceguera was charged with third-degree theft by unlawful taking and disposition. The arrest and charges against Adrian Oceguera were a result of an investigation launched by Chief Matthew Finck of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, on January 6th, 2025, their Confidential Investigations Unit was notified of an alleged theft within the Fairview Fire Department. An investigation uncovered a series of unauthorized purchases and withdrawals made under a bank account associated with the Fairview Fire Department between January 2023 and November 2024. Authorities allege that Adrian Oceguera, employed as a firefighter and account treasurer in the Fairview Fire Department’s Tiger Hose Company 1, misappropriated approximately $6,721.00 for personal use. It was noted that the funds involved with the theft were from the bank account monitored by the Borough of Fairview and not the taxpayer-funded bank account for the fire department.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Adrian Oceguera are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
