Ceani Barnes of Atlantic City, New Jersey, Indicted on Aggravated Manslaughter Charges

On October 15th, 2025, the arrest of Ceani Barnes, age 22, was announced by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office. Ceani Barnes was charged with first-degree Aggravated Manslaughter. The arrest and charges against Ceani Barnes were a result of an investigation handled by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, Atlantic City Police Department, Federal Bureau of Investigations, Galloway Police Department, and NJDOL Cyber Fraud Unit

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 10:08 a.m. on October 11th, 2025, reports were made to the Atlantic City Police Department about an unresponsive female inside her residence. Responding officers located Christina Burdette after entering her residence, however medical personnel declared her as deceased on the scene. During an autopsy performed by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office, the manner of death was ruled as a homicide while the cause was determined to be blunt force trauma injuries paired with chronic abuse. Ceani Barnes was swiftly labeled as a prime suspect in the investigation before being arraigned on the charges against her.


The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Ceani Barnes are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
