According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, an unnamed officer from the Atlantic City Police Department who is also a trained Humane Law Enforcement Officer received reports of suspected animal abuse and cruel torture on the behalf of Edwin Sanabia. Investigation into the matter uncovered that Edwin Sanabia allegedly would lure stay cats with food into his residence before then beating and torturing them, ultimately killing them and disposing of the corpses in a nearby garbage dumpster. Edwin Sanabia had also allegedly forcefully dragged several cats by their own tail in addition to punching, striking, and hitting them with sticks on a neighbor’s property inside a makeshift shelter the cats were occupying.
