Deszon J. Moore of Bronx, New York, Indicted for Aggravated Arson Pattern

On March 20th, 2026, the arrest of Deszon J. Moore, age 43, was announced by Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. Deszon J. Moore was charged with second-degree Aggravated Arson N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1a(2), third-degree Arson N.J.S.A. 2C:17-1b(2), third-degree Criminal Mischief N.J.S.A. 2C:17-3a(1), and third-degree Hindering His Own Apprehension N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3b(1). The arrest and charges against Deszon J. Moore were a result of an investigation handled by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad and Arson Task Force, the Fort Lee Police Department and Fire Department, and the New York City Police Department

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 3:46 a.m. on March 18th, 2026, a vehicle fire on Bergen Boulevard was responded to by the Fort Lee Police Department and the Fort Lee Fire Department. Upon arrival first responders observed a vehicle fully engulfed in flames and firefighters successfully extinguished it completely. A preliminary investigation by the Fort Lee Police Department deemed the fire suspicious and reported the incident to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Squad. A joint investigation with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Arson Task Squad was initiated and Deszon J. Moore was identified to be allegedly responsible for the fire. It’s alleged that the defendant had poured an unspecified accelerant onto the vehicle before igniting it before fleeing back to Bronx, New York. Deszon J. Moore was located later the same day in Bronx, New York, and was taken into custody by the New York City Police Department.


The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Deszon J. Moore are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
