Indian National Nazeer Hameed Charged for 2017 Homicide on Mother and Son

Story by Ethan

On November 18th, 2025, the arrest of Nazeer Hameed, age 38, was announced by Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw. Nazeer Hameed was charged with two counts of first-degree Murder, two counts of third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The arrest and charges against Nazeer Hameed were a result of an investigation handled by BCPO Lt. Brian Cunningham, MSPD Detective Sgt. A. Scot Wallace, and FBI Special Agent Anthony DiPietro.

According to the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office, on March 23rd, 2025, the bodies of both 38-year-old Sasikala Narra and 6-year-oldAnish Narra were found in their apartment unit in a residential building located on Hamilton Road. Responding officers from the Maple Shades Police Department arrived on the scene alongside Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood, and an autopsy determined the cause of death for both victims to be from multiple slash wounds to their necks. It also was uncovered that Anish Narra was nearly decapitated by the assailant and how violent the attack was. Post-mortem examination also revealed that both victim’s bodies suffered from several other defensive wounds.

Detectives reported that Nazeer Hameed lived in the same apartment building as both victims, and he was even employed at the same company as Sasikala Narra, Cognizant Technology Solutions. Nazeer Hameed returned to India approximately six months after the homicide incident where he currently remains as of today. The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office identified Nazeer Hameed as a person of interest after he was revealed to have been stalking Hanumanth Narra, the husband and father of the two victims. Blood analysis from the scene led to a discovery linking Nazeer Hameed to the homicides. A droplet of blood recovered was found to not have belonged to either victim, further testing showing the blood came from a male with Central Asian ancestry with the same blood type as Nazeer Hameed. However after several attempts to obtain a DNA sample, the Central Bureau of Investigation in India claimed Nazeer Hameed refused to provide his own sample. In March 2023 a Mutual Legal Assistance request was made to India detailing that they must receive a DNA sample from Nazeer Hameed via a court order set in place. The United States Department of Justice had recently acknowledged that the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs acknowledged that they had received the request but had never completed it. As of today there has been no established motive for the homicides, and the current focus is on extraditing Nazeer Hameed back to the United States to face prosecution for his alleged crimes.

The Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Nazeer Hameed are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
