On May 19th, 2026, the arrest of Jose Ramos, age 34, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Jose Ramos was charged with first, second, and third-degree Rape, two counts of first-degree Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors, two counts of second-degree Disseminating Indecent Materials to Minors, Sexual Misconduct, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The arrest and charges against Jose Ramos were a result of an investigation handled by the Bronx District Attorney’s Office.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, in early April of 2026 Jose Ramos and the 12-year-old victim began to communicate with each other online via Snapchat. Allegedly during these chats the defendant sent the victim several sexually explicit photos and videos of himself. At approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 26th, 2026, Jose Ramos allegedly arrived at the victim’s house while her parents were away. The defendant was able to enter the house to watch TV in her room before then grabbing the victim and removing her pants and raping her. After the sexual assault Jose Ramos also reportedly began to smoke marijuana inside the house. When the victim’s parents returned home they smelt marijuana coming from the victim’s room the defendant attempted to escape after emerging from the closet he was hiding in. The victim’s father was successful in restraining Jose Ramos until local law enforcement arrived.
The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Jose Ramos are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
