On January 16th, 2026, the arrest of Lloyd Ferrara, age 30, was announced by Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer. Lloyd Ferrara was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Driver’s License While Involved in a Motor Vehicle Crash Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury and Driving Under the Influence. The arrest and charges against Lloyd Ferrara were a result of an investigation handled by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit, Brick Township Police Department, and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, at approximately 10:15 p.m. on January 15th, 2026, a motor vehicle crash involving a car and an electric scooter was reported in the area of Jack Martin Boulevard and Route 88. Officers from the Brick Township Police Department responded to the scene to discover the 40-year-old victim sustaining serious wounds before transporting him to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, New Jersey. The victim remains in a stable but serious condition. A joint investigation was launched that revealed a 1988 Ford pick-up truck, allegedly operated by Lloyd Ferrara, was traveling westbound on route 88 before attempting to turn into a convenience store parking lot. While trying to turn, the defendant allegedly failed to yield to the victim riding an electric scooter heading eastbound, causing a head-on collision that dismantled the victim from the scooter. The victim got caught underneath the truck and was dragged for a short distance before he was dislodged. It was also revealed that Lloyd Ferrara was operating the Ford pick-up truck while his driver’s license was suspended in addition to having fictitious license plates on the vehicle. Officers at the scene observed Lloyd Ferrara to be potentially intoxicated after the crash, and when a standard field sobriety test was administered the defendant failed to pass that subsequently led to his arrest.
The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office stated that the charges against Lloyd Ferrara are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
