Saddle Brook Police Officer Andres Morales was charged with eluding. The investigation into the case was led by the Internal Affairs Division of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

On October 8, 2020, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Confidential Investigations Unit received information that on October 3, 2020, an off-duty Saddle Brook Police Officer fled from an attempted motor vehicle stop and led Ridgefield Police and other officers on a high speed chase. After a thorough investigation, it was revealed that on October 3, 2020, a Ridgefield Police Officer attempted to stop a BMW driving at a high rate of speed. The driver, later identified as Andres Morales, refused to pull over and fled the police.

The pursuit was later terminated due to the speed of the vehicle and the danger to the public. Officer Andres Morales was charged with Second Degree Eluding, in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-2(b), a 2nd degree crime. He was also suspended from his duties as a Saddle Brook Police Officer. Morales is scheduled for his first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court on November 4, 2020.

The investigation is ongoing, and several other officers have been suspended, pending the outcome of the full investigation. The charges are accusations, and the defendant will remain innocent until proven guilty. His Attorney, Ron Bar-Nadav, of Hackensack said he would not comment on a pending case.
