On April 2nd, 2026, the arrest of Samy Sedhom, age 21, was announced by Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly. Samy Sedhom was charged with first and second-degree Assault, second-degree Attempted Murder, and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon. The arrest and charges against Samy Sedhom were a result of an investigation handled by the Nassau County Police Department’s 4th Precinct.
According to the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 9:20 p.m. on February 13th, 2026, the victim was arriving home from the gym when she noticed Samy Sedhom’s car parked across the street from their shared residence on West Avenue in Lawrence, New York. After parking her car in the property’s detached garage and was inputting the code to close the door behind her when her brother, the defendant, allegedly approached her with a high-performance Barnett Whitetail Hunter Crossbow and fired a shot at her head with a G5 hunting arrow. The arrow connected with the victim’s head and caused heavy bleeding and other injuries to her face, right ear, and right cheek. She was then transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center requiring emergency surgery to close the approximately 6-inch long laceration across her face. After the shot was fired Samy Sedhom fled to his parked vehicle and drove to the intersection between West Avenue and Bayview Avenue to discard the crossbow.
During an investigation by the Nassau County Police Department the crossbow in question was located and recovered at the intersection where Samy Sedhom allegedly discarded it. The investigation also led to a search of the defendant’s room and recovered a laptop, black katana sword, and an empty crossbow box matching the make and model of the recovered weapon that was allegedly used in the shooting. It’s alleged that Samy Sedhom had been planning to kill his sister since December 2025 after a series of arguments stemming from thermostat settings in their house. The defendant then allegedly purchased the crossbow, a three pack of hunting arrows, and a GPS tracker device that he attached to his sister’s vehicle in order to track her movement. Samy Sedhom was located and arrested by the Nassau County Police Department’s 4th Precinct Squad on February 14th, 2026.
The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Samy Sedhom are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
