Tasabbir Hossain of Ronkonkoma, New York, Indicted for New Year’s Day DWI Car Crash

On March 17th, 2026, the arrest of Tasabbir Hossain, age 32, was announced by Nassau County District Attorney Anne T. Donnelly. Tasabbir Hossain was charged with first and second-degree Vehicular Assault, second-degree Assault, Aggressive Driving While Intoxicated Per Se, Driving While Intoxicated Per Se, Driving While Intoxicated, and Reckless Driving. The arrest and charges against Tasabbir Hossain were a result of an investigation handled by the Nassau County Police Department’s 7th Precinct

According to the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office, at approximately 1:55 a.m. on January 1st, 2026, Tasabbir Hossain left a New Year’s party allegedly intoxicated before getting into his 2021 Mercedes Benz AMG. The defendant then began to drive while allegedly intoxicated, heading westbound in the eastbound lanes on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa, New York. While driving in the wrong lane the defendant collided head on with the 30-year-old male victim who was traveling eastbound in a 2015 Acura 4DSD. The victim was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital to receive surgery for serious injuries that included a fractured arm, fractured knee, and fractured ankle. Tasabbir Hossain was transported to Nassau University Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Blood drawn from the defendant at the hospital showed he had a blood alcohol content of .23% approximately 30 minutes after the crash, which is nearly triple the blood alcohol content limit of .08% while driving in New York. Tasabbir Hossain was arrested by the Nassau County Police Department’s 7th Precinct on January 1st, 2026. 


The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Tasabbir Hossain are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
