On September 22nd, 2025, the arrest of Sundance Oliver, age 31, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Sundance Oliver was charged with Attempted Murder in the second-degree, two counts of Aggravated Assault Upon a Police or Peace Officer, four counts of first-degree Assault, two counts of Assault On a Peace Officer, Police Officer, Fireman, or Emergency Medical Services Professional, eight counts of second-degree Assault, first-degree Promoting Prison Contraband, second-degree Promoting Prison Contraband, fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, and two counts of second-degree Obstructing Governmental Administration. The arrest and charges against Sundance Oliver were a result of an investigation handled by New York City Department of Correction, Central Intelligence Bureau Investigators Nathaniel Williamson, Korab Hasangjekaj, John Cammisuli Jeffrey Rios, and Walter Holmes.
According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, Sundance Oliver was approached by two Emergency Service Unit Correction officers in order to be transported to another care facility on August 27th, 2025. Allegedly Sundance Oliver had suddenly lunged at one of the officers, cutting his lip with a scratch on the right side of the officer’s face. The other officer attempted to restrain Sundance Oliver, however he was hit on the head by the defendant. The lip injury required seven stitches, and the head injury required seventeen stitches. Separately Sundance Oliver on three occasions between January 23rd, 2025, and May 30th, 2025, he had allegedly filled bottles with feces before opening and tossing them at various correctional officers.
The Bronx District Attorney stated that the charges against Sundance Oliver are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
