Taveon Hargrove of Bronx, New York, Arraigned for Robbery and Attempted Murder on an Officer

On June 25th, 2025, the arrest of Taveon Hargrove, age 23, was announced by Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark. Taveon Hargrove was charged with two counts of Attempted Murder in the first degree, Attempted Murder in the second degree, four counts of first-degree Robbery, two counts of second-degree Robbery, third-degree Robbery, three counts of first-degree Assault, four counts of second-degree Assault, Aggravated Assault Upon a Police Officer, Assault on a Peace Officer, Police Officer, Fireman or EMS Professional, second-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, Criminal Possession of a Firearm, Six counts of fourth-degree Grand Larceny, five counts of Criminal Possession of fourth-degree, and Possession of Stolen Property. The arrest and charges against Taveon Hargrove were a result of an investigation handled by NYPD Detective Sean Liscoe of the 45th Precinct Detective Squad, and NYPD Detective Joseph Rivera of the Regional Fugitive Task Force

According to the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, NYPD Officer Chowdhury Nafees was between shifts on St. Peter’s Avenue when he was attacked by Taveon Hargrove and his accomplice Wayne Lucas, age 23, of Chesterfield, Virginia. Allegedly the two men had tackled Officer Chowdhury Nafees to the ground with a knife pressed against his back, stealing his wallet, personal cell phone, police department issued cell phone, and a glock 19 9mm service pistol. After taking his belongings, Taveon Hargrove and Wayne Lucas allegedly dealt several punches to Officer Chowdhury Nafees face, Taveon Hargrove going as far as to stop on his head. The two suspects fled after the assault, however the attack was captured on a recorded video. Officer Chowdhury Nafees suffered from head trauma and fractures to his left orbital bone and right cheekbone from the attack. He was transported and treated at NYC Health+Hospitals Jacobi for four days. Both Taveon Hargrove and Wayne Lucas fled to Virginia where they were located and arrested without incident. 


The Bronx District Attorney’s Office stated that the charges against Taveon Hargrove are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
